AMARA I: Itinerary Bhamo – Mandalay (6 days, 5 nights)

Embark the Amara River Cruise 3:00 pm in the afternoon. Cruise to overnight near Sinn Khan. (Meals: D)

Set sail at 06:00 am. On the way, we will pass the beautiful Second Defile. The river banks become a steep cliff and the river bottom drops away to extreme depths. The river scene is amazing and offers beautiful scenery. Maybe you will also get to see the famous Ayeyarwaddy Dolphin, quite common in this area.In the morning after breakfast, we arrive in Shwegu and visit the pagodas of Shwe Baw Kyunn on the opposite river bank of Shwegu. In the afternoon, the Amara will reach Katha, a beautiful town with an interesting market, friendly people, and a unique atmosphere. Katha is known from the book “Burmese Days” written by George Orwell. Dinner and overnight on board the Amara. (Meals: B / L / D)

Set sail at 06:00 am. Our journey will continue downstream until Tagaung, one of the oldest capitals of Myanmar. Proceed for sightseeing of Tagaung. Overnight and dinner on board the Amara just south of Tagaung. (Meals: B / L / D)

Set sail at 06:00 am. We continue until Thabeikkyin, passing the Third Defile. This area is covered with dense teak forest. Sail downstream and stop to visitthe charming Nwe Nyein pottery village. Dinner and overnight on board. (Meals: B / L / D)

Set sail at 06:00 am down stream to Mingun. Afternoon sightseeing of the Mingun Bell, which weighs 90 tones and is the biggest hanging undamaged bell in the world. Also visit Shin Phyume Pagoda, and the unfinished Mingun Pagoda – a colossal brick monument.  Dinner and overnight on board the Amara near Mingun. (Meals: B / L / D)

Cruise down to Mandalay. Disembark at the Mandalay Jetty at 08:00 am. (Meals: B)

AMARA II: Itinerary Bhamo – Mandalay (7 days, 6 nights)

Embark the Amara River Cruise in the afternoon at 3:00 PM. Set cruiseto be near Sin-Kham. Enjoy dinner and overnight on board. (Meals: D)

Set sail at 06:00 am. On the way, we will pass the beautiful Second Defile. In the morning after breakfast, we will take a car to visit an elephant camp about 12 miles west of Katha. You will have the opportunity to ride an elephant, if you wish. Katha is known from the book “Burmese Days” written by George Orwell. Dinner and overnight on board the Amara. (Meals: B / L / D)
